Git, APIs and Backend for AI: Beginner

Level 0, topic 5 (part 1 of 2) of the BitByte AI path. Every AI product is code in a repository, talking to APIs, served by a backend. This course gives you those three skills from scratch, with an offline practice API so everything you type works exactly as shown.

You get a bilingual written tutorial where every command and program was run and its output checked, short videos from Fireship, ByteByteGo, GitHub, Corey Schafer, pixegami and others, and three exams from easy to hard. When you finish, continue with Git, APIs and Backend for AI: Advanced.

• Work confidently in the terminal and manage environment variables, .env files and virtual environments (venv and uv)
• Use Git every day: commit, read history, ignore files and secrets, undo mistakes, branch, merge and resolve conflicts
• Use GitHub: remotes, push, pull, clone, README and a pull-request workflow
• Explain HTTP: methods, status codes, headers, JSON, URLs and REST
• Call APIs with curl and Python requests, with authentication, timeouts, retries, pagination and an LLM-style chat API
• Build a FastAPI backend with Pydantic validation, proper errors and automatic docs, and test it with pytest

• Python basics (the "Python for AI" course, Level 0 topic 2)
• A computer with Python 3.12 or newer and Git (Windows users: Git Bash or WSL)
• Basic English for the videos (the tutorial and exams are in English and Bangla)
