AI Ethics and Responsible Use: Beginner

Level 0, topic 7 (part 1 of 2) of the BitByte AI path. AI tools are easy to use and hard to use well. This course teaches the questions to ask before, during and after you use them: who benefits, who could be harmed, what the options are, what you do not know and who is accountable.

You get a written tutorial in English and Bangla, hand-picked videos, and three exams (an easy quiz, a medium quiz and a harder final exam). Everything is based on short invented scenarios, so you need no special software and no programming. The course is educational and is not legal advice: rules differ by country, sector and date, and the course shows you how to find and check the ones that apply to you.

• Identify who benefits and who could be harmed by an AI-assisted task, including people who never use the tool
• Apply one decision pattern: situation, affected people, options, evidence, conditions, accountability and review date
• Tell apart an ethical concern, a legal obligation and a company policy
• Recognise common sources of bias and explain why fairness goals can conflict
• Check AI output in proportion to the stakes, and watch for automation bias and synthetic media
• Protect personal data, respect consent and handle copyright, licences and attribution carefully
• Decide what to disclose in study and work, and when human review, an appeal route or not using AI is the right choice
• Write a short responsible-AI decision file that records your reasoning, with a plan for finding the rules that apply to you

• Comfortable reading English or Bangla (the tutorial and exams are in both)
• Optionally, any free chat assistant for a few exercises; printed or written scenarios work too
• No programming and no earlier AI course are required; the earlier Level 0 topics help but are not needed
